Four hours down and two to go. My wife and I have been waiting for our trip to Mauritius for a couple of months now, can’t beleive the day finally arrived. Blogging from my iPod touch so will keep it short.
Will try to blog from there, depending on mood of course.
Had a very productive day in the office today. I didn’t have any meetings but i got review a few proposals, speak to a number of clients and basically tie a few loose end before my vacation.
Went to our shop after work just to make sure everything was under control and that the employee is settled and comfortable with the merchandise etc… Last thing i need is for him to need something from me while i am away. (Will give you details about the shop in another post inshAllah)
Finally, just got home from football, played with the guys from the bank and some family members.
Overall it was a very good day, need to jump into the shower real quick before diving into bed.
Been a while since i last felt “in control” of my life. El hamdulilah, i just need to keep on doing what i’ve been doing; one step at a time.
I went through a phase recently of playing very serious tennis with a coach. I use to wake up at 5:00am to practice with the coach before heading to work at 8:00. It was all in preparation for a local tournament here in Bahrain. I did very well in it, made it all the way to the final but unfortunately lost the match.
I have stopped playing as much since the tournament and i’m just starting to play again. No where close to the level i was playing at right before the tourny. Amazing how stopping for a month can ruin your whole game.
I lost to a guy today that i know i should beat easily, this for me is the worst type of losing. It is one thing to play well and lose and something else to give the game away because of stupid choices.
Luckily i’ll have another chance to play him before traveling on Friday. InshAllah i will be able to play my real game.
I really needed to get this off my chest. Every time i remember i get this sick feeling in my stomach.
Its been a while since my last post. A very long while actually.
Thinking about posting randomly again, no commitments, no routine, post whenever i want, wherever i want.
Quick update on what i’ve been up to lately;
Extremely busy with the Bank, summer is usually slow but we decided to launch a couple of deals recently which is keeping us busy. So looking forward to my break end of this week.
I’ll be traveling with my wife for a couple of weeks to Mauritius inshAllah. We usually jump around from one destination to another which is kind of hectic and tiring, this time we decided to fully unwind in one place. Turn into beach bums for a change.
The resort we will be staying at...
We had our two year anniversary in June i remember when we were planning our honeymoon two years ago, time really flies!
Trying my best to get into my waking up early routine which i broke a while ago. I have been having a hard time with it but i’m please that last week i was able to wake up very early three days of the week. InshAllah i’ll do better this week. I realized that i can really accomplish so much early in the morning, days turn out much better then when i end of sleeping late till i have to wake up for work. It helps me organize my thoughts, tasks, get to catch up on my reading, and a bit of soul searching of course heh.
Finally, book update: Just started Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Very interesting, so much to learn.
My AD is finally airing on CNN and other international networks. If you don’t know what i’m talking about check out one of my previous posts called “Celebrity“.
Went out for the traditional Jurassic run yesterday before breaking the my fast.
I left work at about 4:00pm got home by 4:15 and prayed. I was on the road running at 4:50, i had to catch up to the my uncle and the rest of the runners because they started around 7 minutes before i did.
It was an amazing run, we ran for around 30 minutes in tough terrain, hence the name Jurassic. The run is mostly on very soft hilly sand which makes it that much more difficult. I could feel every muscle in my leg tighten with every step.
We made it back by 5:20 which gave me enough time to take a cool shower and get ready for futoor (breaking of the fast).
Today i’ll be playing tennis inshallah, if i can get out of work early by 3:45’sh.
Thank God my reading phase is still on. I’ve been reading so much this year, if feel like a dog that has been tied up for a long time and suddenly is let loose! I can’t get enough of it, i go crazy in bookstores, it is my favorite place to shop these days.
Anyway, the latest book i’m reading is The story of my experiments with truth by M.K. Ghandi.
I thought i knew a bit about this life, but it turns out i only knew 1% of what this man went through and achieved in his life.
I highly recommend this book even though i still did not finish it, so far it’s been difficult to put down.
I really enjoy reading autobiographies. I learn so much from them!
After a couple of meetings in the morning and sushi for lunch we decided to head to the shooting range in the late afternoon.
I can’t remember the name of the place, but it was a good 20 min drive from the JW. We had a blast. I tried two different hand guns and one rifle. I started with the 9mm, my accuracy was decent for a first timer (well second timer to be honest, but my first time was in the US around 7 years ago). Then i shot the 44mm which was a different experience, it took me a couple of shots to adjust to the kick it had but i had a pretty good round with it.
I felt proud of myself, the guy supervising us suggested i join competitions with them which made me feel great
We then moved to shooting a rifle, i can’t remember what rifle we shot, i wrote it down but don’t have the paper on me. Anyway, this was an unbelievable experience the target was much farther away which meant we need to use a small telescope thing, and you shoot this while sitting down. It felt nice but i had a difficult time with seeing the traget, my eye was blurry for some reason. You know the feeling when you put pressure on your eye with your hands then you release it takes a few seconds to adjust, it was that kind of feeling.
From there we met a friend at Avenues. Did a bit of business product accessory shopping, whatever that means, then we had dinner at the Noodles Factory.
Got back home at 11’sh and had to prepare for my early morning meeting today. Thank God it is in the hotel so i can take my time while getting ready.
Another couple of meetings to go and then i’ll head to the airport for the afternoon flight back to Bahrain.
